Targeting Overview

You can customize and target content to specific users based on multiple dimensions. Currently, these are the various dimensions:

 
  • Location
  • Language
  • Connection
  • Game Version
  • Hardware (iOS only)
  • Number of Sessions
  • Last Session
  • Time in Game
  • Amount Spent
  • First Session
  • OS Version

Location - Customize the experience for your varied cultures.  Target your 4th of July promotion to users in the United States and celebrate the Year of the Dragon with your Chinese players.  Country-level targeting is determined by the user's geo-IP location. This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.

Language - Don't alienate your players!  Localize your creative and copy based on their device settings.This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.

Connection - Want to cross-promote one of your storage-demanding games?  Target users on WiFi that can quickly download your large game.This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.

Game Version - Target users playing specific versions of your game.  Prompt your players to upgrade to the latest version and follow up with a reward for updating. This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.

Hardware (iOS Only) - Is your game iPad only? Target based on the device the user is currently using.This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK.

Number of Sessions - Reward your most engaged players! Target based on the number of sessions a user has played the particular game for all-time. This is only available if you are using:

For iOS: iOS SDK 1.12.0+ (released: 9/06/2012) or Unity Plugin 1.12.3+ (released: 10/24/2012)

For Android: Android SDK 1.12.5+ (released 4/18/2013) or Unity Plugin 1.13.1+ (released 4/18/2013)

For Adobe AIR: AIR SDK 1.12.2+ (released 01/28/2013)

 
Last Session - Want to get the word out about your latest in game event? Target based on the time since the user's previous session. This is only available if you are using:

For iOS: iOS SDK 1.12.0+ (released: 9/06/2012) or Unity Plugin 1.12.3+ (released: 10/24/2012)

For Android: Android SDK 1.12.5+ (released 4/18/2013) or Unity Plugin 1.13.1+ (released 4/18/2013)

For Adobe AIR: AIR SDK 1.12.2+ (released 01/28/2013)

 
Time in Game - Cross Promote or Monetize your players before their play session ends. Target based on the amount of time a player has spent in-game for all-time OR within the current session.  This is only available if you are using:

For iOS: iOS SDK 1.12.0+ (released: 9/06/2012) or Unity Plugin 1.12.3+ (released: 10/24/2012)

For Android: Android SDK 1.12.5+ (released 4/18/2013) or Unity Plugin 1.13.1+ (released 4/18/2013)

For Adobe AIR: AIR SDK 1.12.2+

 
Amount Spent  - Target whales, dolphins, minnows, and non-paying users based on their in-app purchase (IAP) behavior for all-time within that game. This requires:

For iOS: iOS SDK 1.10.4+ (released: 5/07/2012) or Unity Plugin 1.11.0+ (released: 6/25//2012)

For Android: Android SDK 1.11.1+ (released 6/25/2012) or Unity Plugin 1.11.0+ (released 6/25/2012)

For Adobe AIR: AIR SDK 1.12.2+ (released 01/28/2013)

 
First Session -Allows developers to target players based on the day they first launch the game. To utilize this functionality, developers will create a new user segment within 'user targeting' in the dashboard. This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.

OS Version - Target specific iOS or Android OS versions or a range of versions. This was available for all versions of the Upsight iOS SDK and Upsight Android SDK.
